Alan & Valerie Brown

Alan and Valerie Hunt Brown are a married couple from Moab, Utah who have been performing together for years. They have been musicians and performers for most of their lives. As a duo, they both sing and play multiple instruments. Together they play
an eclectic mix of Classic Rock/Pop and Classic Country that includes artists like Johnny Cash, Pink Floyd, Beatles, Merle Haggard and Led Zeppelin.

Alan and Valerie met and married in Nashville in 1990, but soon moved to Valerie’s home state of Utah. They became owners of the Bar-M Chuckwagon-Live Western Show and Cowboy Supper. They operated the business for 25 years, performing a western music show nightly with their group “The Bar-M Wranglers.” In 2017 they sold the Bar-M and became a duo.

Valerie grew up in Cottonwood Heights, Utah and performed with several country bands around the Salt Lake area before moving to Nashville to sing backup vocals for recording artist Terri Gibbs. She next became one-third of the music and comedy trio, Ethel & The Shameless Hussies. The group recorded an album for MCA Records and toured the US and Canada for about five years. When the Hussies disbanded, she returned to Utah with Alan to start a family and operate the Bar-M Chuckwagon in Moab.

Alan Started singing at the age of six and played in numerous bands through high school and college. In 1976 he studied music theory and guitar at Burklee College of Music in Boston and went on to study vocal music at Millikin University in his home
state of Illinois. In 1978-79 he took a year off of college to tour throughout the US, Canada and Europe the internationally famous group “Up With People.” After college, Alan moved to the east coast and played music professionally all over New Jersey, New York City and Atlantic City. He eventually moved to Nashville, met Valerie and the two have been singing together ever since.

Bears Ears Farm Day

On July 1st, 2023 Jana Bailey owner of Bears Ears Farms, launched our official Grand Opening, along with the annual Bears Ears Farm Day – which is intended to carry on and grow the legacy Patty Lyman began over 30 years ago.

This Farm Day, like the Farm Days before it, was jam-packed with fun, games, food, and entertainment for families in Blanding and the surrounding communities to enjoy!

During the 30 years that Patty hosted Farm Days, it brought joy to over 2,000 students and 200 volunteers. BEF continues to honor this by hosting an annual event that involves the entire community and supports families and students in the area as well.

Upon arrival, you’re offered a free famous Aggie Ice Cream cone!

If you have had Aggie Ice Cream, then you’ll know the cool & delicious treat that was offered at our Grand Opening. If you haven’t, even more reason to come join the fun at Bears Ears Farms next year!

FREE ADMISSION

Admission to this Grand Opening and the annual Bears Ears Farm Day event going forward is free, thanks to BEF and support from locals and businesses in the community. If you would like to sponsor or offer donations for one of these Bears Ears Farms events, please email info@bearsearsfarms.com.

All sponsors and donors will be edified and featured in a number of digital and print marketing campaigns with substantial positive local exposure. This is a priceless opportunity to spotlight your business or organization while taking part in a fun community experience!

These Farm Day events are full of fun and excitement while providing an opportunity for families to get together and create economic growth for local artisans and businesses in the San Juan County area.

Family Fun And Entertainment

This year we will be offering loads of games and entertainment, while keeping it safe for parents and children to enjoy.

The tractor-train, rock climbing wall, petting zoo, and hay ride will keep families laughing together for hours, and that is only the beginning of the excitement you’ll experience!

Pictured here is an Army truck hauling the climbing tower to a past Farm Days event, and we are honored and excited to announce that the climbing tower will be featured at the Bears Ears Farms Grand Opening and Farm Day again this year!

Come prepared to test your strengths and challenge your friends and family in some friendly competition, and enjoy the view from above.

After a fulfilling climb on this challenging tower, grab a cold bottle of water, donated by UNHS, and browse the many vendors whether it be food or local art that piques your interest. (or stomach)

Food and refreshment

Come prepared to support local artisans, businesses, and food vendors!

This year, the Red Armadillo Taco Truck, Delton Pugh Catering, Navajo Tacos, and a Snow Cone booth were at the farm to satisfy all taste bud demands during a busy and appetite-inducing experience.

Bears Ears Farms’ Grand Opening wanted to honor tradition and our local heritage, so we had delicious, authentic, Navajo Tacos!

Authentic Navajo Tacos are traditional and a staple at any event in the San Juan County area.

This Grand Opening event was full of food, fun, and cool refreshments!

Will choices between Mexican Food, Navajo Tacos, and Delton Pughe’s delicious catered meals, or a taste of all the cuisines available.

On a hot day, you’ll find cool refreshments to go with the yummy food, like an ice-cold snow cone or a complimentary bottle of purified water.

Artisans and Vendors

Blanding and the surrounding area have a lot of great artists and vendors.

Bears Ears Farms hosted space for many unique and local vendors to sell their arts, crafts, and other goods.

You’ll find only one-of-a-kind artisans and vendors at each of our events.

At Bears Ears Farms, we love supporting local businesses and artisans while boosting the economy in Blanding, Utah.

This is easy to do with so many incredible and honest locals to support.
